Lightweight PET Preform Technology Cuts Raw Material Consumption by Over 12%
A new precision injection molding technology for PET preforms has achieved mass application, delivering remarkable lightweight effects for water, juice and edible oil packaging. Engineers optimize preform wall thickness distribution through finite element simulation, removing redundant plastic while guaranteeing bottle pressure resistance and drop test performance after blow molding.
Compared with traditional standard preforms, the new generation product reduces single-piece resin usage by 12%–18%. Intelligent temperature control units on injection machines stabilize rPET molding quality, allowing preforms to contain up to 50% food-safe recycled PET flakes without transparency defects.
The lightweight preform solution also lowers logistics and storage costs: more blanks can be stacked in the same warehouse space, and overall carbon emissions of packaging production chains drop visibly. Beverage and daily chemical brands have launched large-scale preform procurement orders for this eco-friendly product.
