Bio-Based PET Raw Materials Enter Mass Production for Preform & Handle Manufacturing
Bio-PET resin derived from plant raw materials completes industrial scale-up, offering a low-carbon alternative for producing transparent preforms and integrated bottle handles. The bio-based material shares identical molding parameters with conventional petroleum PET, requiring no large-scale reconstruction of existing injection and blow molding equipment.
Products made of bio-PET maintain excellent impact resistance and gas barrier performance, suitable for drinking water, cold brew tea and large-volume household chemical containers. Combined with tethered bio-plastic caps, the full bio-based packaging set cuts lifecycle carbon footprint by nearly 40%.
At present, bio-PET packaging is mainly applied in high-end eco-label consumer goods. As bio-resin costs gradually decline, manufacturers plan to expand bio-based preform and handle production lines to cover mass-market beverage packaging demand within three years.
